It's human nature to want to be just like everyone else, even if it's not in our best interest. Israel wanted a king to be like all the other nations around them. God granted their request, but the results didn't turn out as well as they expected. No human king can rule with perfect justice, peace and goodness. On the first Sunday of Advent, we look forward to the coming of God's Messiah who will put the world right once and for all.
