November is a busy month, full of significant events in the life and work
of our church. On Sunday, November 5, 2017, we will be commemorating All
Saints Day and honoring our members and friends who have passed on to
glory with candles and prayers during our worship service that day.
Hebrews 12:1-2 says, “Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely,
and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to
Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.”

November is also the month where we celebrate Thanksgiving, a time to
give thanks to God for all the blessings God has given us. We have the
opportunity to give thanks with other faith leaders in our community at the
annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St.
Thomas Episcopal Church in Newark at 7:30pm. Psalm 136:1 proclaims, “O
give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”

We close out the liturgical calendar year on Sunday, November 26, 2017,
which is Christ the King Sunday, a day when we celebrate the victory of Christ
over sin and death and proclaim him King of kings and Lord of lords. In
Revelation 4:10-11, the elders, when beholding Christ upon the throne, cast
their crowns before him crying out in full voice, “You are worthy, our Lord
and God, to receive glory and honor and power for you created all things, and
by your will they existed and were created.”

Nurture your faith this November at Head of Christiana!

Blessings,

  Pastor Hilary Livingston
